During the six months it took to develop the Chef-Phones CP1, we tested over 40 makes and models of speaker before finding the perfect match to those used in the Koss UR30. Many of these failed in various ways, but one in particular that stood out for its very sharp tonal response, made us look further to its use on a wide range of machines.
After three independent tests on Xterra, T2 and DFX the verdict was Excellent. And so the Chef-Phones CP2 or Super Light were born. As its name suggests it weighs in at only 223g making it one of the lightest pairs of dedicated detecting headphones on the market, but their light weight is not at the expense of ruggedness. The Super Lights are built around the Bilsom L1 headset and carry the same features as the Chef-Phones CP1, with its removable lead, volume control and mode/kill switch. And now they are ready the CP3 Chef-Phone TT. Made to the our same high regard for detail, the CP3 has employed speaker elements especially imported from the USA for use in the CP3.
Tested on all the leading makes of metal detector the new TT has proven itself to be the real chameleon of the headphone world adjusting its impedance and output to the needs of the particular detector being used.

Propaganda OUR PHILOSOPHY
I made the first pair of what are now Chef-Phones in March 2009, purely as a personal experiment on a bored Saturdaymorning. I followed these by making a few others for fellow members of Minelabowners.com and this is from where they acquired their silly name.
I soon realised that there was a market for headphones that fitted to what detectorists wanted and not what the market just gave them. The hunt was then on for the best components to fulfil this (a hunt that still continues).
I now believe that the five models in the Chef-Phone range cater for the majority of users and machines on the market, but I am constantly innovating these models and can now offer any of them in a "back phone" , twin volume or left hand model, also the leads can be supplied with any termination you desire.
The lifetime guarantee is in place not as a marketing ploy or to advertise their superior quality, but as a metal detectorist myself I believe we deserve minimum down time and maximum service when we have invested our money in such an essential piece of equipment.
